I had the day off yesterday, so my parents and I decided to take a little trip to Niagara Falls.
Niagara Falls: American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls
Entering the mist of Horseshoe Falls
"I think I can, I think I can..."
"Hornblower"
Rainbow Bridge
Seagulls galore
Horseshoe Falls
Old power generating station
Mystical dragon's breath
My dad also wanted to check out a winery on this trip, so we took a detour in Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is known for their copious amounts of wineries. Not having any idea which one to check out (we didn't exactly do research), we just stopped at the one that looked the most impressive, Colaneri Estate Winery, which is housed in a palatial Romanesque-style building.

Fields of wine grapes
Even more fields of grapes
Where the wine-making magic happens
Bottles of Visione 2009 Syrah
All their wines in pretty bottles
Fumoso Bianco 2010 Sauvignon Blanc
Okay, so I actually have very little interest in wine because I don't drink, but I can appreciate the different varieties and wine notes and bottle designs, no? My dad did a wine tasting and ended up buying a few bottles to take home while I took to photographing everything and my mom waited patiently for us both. So, par for the course.
I know, right?! We were driving around the wineries area in Niagara-on-the-Lake and we saw this gigantic Italian-looking building sitting in the middle of a field and had to stop by because it just looked so impressive. Didn't even know it was a winery until we got to the gate, lol.
Haha! I've actually been to Niagara Falls! We drove up to the American side from S.'s hometown and then crossed the border to see it from the Canadian side, as well. But we didn't do anything else - just sightseeing there. They're amazing!
Loool, glad you got to see the Falls from the Canadian side -- we definitely got the view. ;)
It's too bad you didn't get to do any of the other touristy things in Niagara Falls. So many random things to see and do! Like Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum, lol. That place freaked me out when I was a kid. :P
Nice pics! When we were growing up, my parents took us to Niagara Falls every single summer for some strange reason. Like, we never went anywhere else but there, so I got really tired of it during my 20s and swore not to go back for a long time. Now I sort of miss it, but I'd rather hang out at the wineries than at the fall for sure. After Napa, my sister and I decided we should take advantage of the Niagara wineries more often.
OMG, me too! My dad would take us to Niagara Falls every year, sometimes twice a year, from when I was like, three to 16. Maybe because he wanted to take advantage of the fact that we live so close to there. I dunno.
And yes, I went to my first winery, EVER on this trip, lol. Such a nice experience. It makes me want to be able to drink. :( You should definitely visit them. There are SO MANY in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
