Photolog 2020: Day 250 of 366

Ying and I had made reservations for the Jungkook global cafe birthday event in Toronto today, which was hosted at The Alley by Shirl and partnered with fansites, Golden Film and Enchanted JK. We only found out about this last week 'cause we weren't sure if there was even going to be a birthday event here this year due to the pandemic, but the host followed all the government mandates and health guidelines to make sure it was as safe as possible (mandatory masks, social distancing, reservations to limit people inside the cafe at all times, etc.) so we could celebrate Jungkookie together. (The event was likely held this weekend instead of last weekend — during Kookie's actual birthday — due to confirming with the cafe to see if we were actually allowed to host the event, and also to make sure the cup sleeves arrived on time.)

You could get one free cup sleeve and two photo cards for every drink you ordered, but there were two versions of the cup sleeve and four different photo cards total, so Ying and I obviously got two drinks each to get all of them. We only celebrate our golden maknae once a year, you know? (I will honestly say this with all of BTS' birthdays, but whatever, it's a special occasion.) So I got my usual order from The Alley, which is the classic Deerioca with soy milk (it's basically a brown sugar milk tea with tapioca but it tastes exactly like Maple Nut Oatmeal Crisp so it's fucking awesome), and I decided to try the Snow Strawberry Lulu (imagine a frothy strawberry milk, almost like a diluted milkshake, but with big chunks of actual strawberry — actually quite delicious, though a bit too much ice).

Even though we were only in the cafe for about 10 minutes — just enough time to order our drinks, get our cup sleeves and photo cards, take photos of the adorable Jungkook decorations around the cafe, and get our drinks to go — we did have a fun time hanging out in College Park just outside of The Alley. (Honestly, the weather was perfect for relaxing outside today. Sunny, 22°C, with a slight breeze. Kookie would've appreciated it.) At the end of the day, I'm just really glad we ended up getting an event in Toronto. We hadn't been to one since Yoongi's birthday in March, which was right before the pandemic hit, and we hadn't had anything to look forward to this year since BTS announced the tour postponement, so this was really a much-needed occasion to lift our spirits. Thank you so much again to Shirl for hosting the event here, and of course, Golden Film and Enchanted JK for providing the cup sleeves and photo cards. It wouldn't have been possible without you. And, of course, happy belated birthday to our Jungkookie, our main vocalist, baby bunny, and golden maknae! 💜

The last item from the G.O. that I made last September arrived today: the Your Time photobook set by Jimin fansite, LOOK AT MIN!. This is her 3rd photobook that was originally made for Jimin's birthday last year. I honestly forgot about it because it's been so long, but damn, it was worth the wait.

Your Time Photobook Set by LOOK AT MIN! — Mini Slogan, Button Set, and Photocard Set

This set came with, of course, the stunning photobook, as well as a set of five postcards, a picket, a set of stickers, a mini slogan, a set of 8 photocards, and a set of two buttons, all featuring some of the most stunning photos that LOOK AT MIN! took over the course of 2018 to early 2019. This is my third Jimin photobook, but honestly, I am always in awe of the quality and design of these sets. Everything down to the last detail, even in all the "bonus" items that come with the photobooks, are gorgeous and well-made. As I said, totally worth the wait.

Opened the third and final item from my latest G.O. that arrived a few days ago: the 2020 Color Greeting of Jimin Set.

So... I totally forgot that I had ordered this. Yes, it's a yearly planner/calendar set, much like BTS' official Season's Greetings sets, except this one features Jimin photos and designs by one of my fave Jimin fansites, Prussian Blue. But due to crazy long processing times (I ordered this last September), it arrived six months into the year... which means half of the standing calendar, desk calendar, calendar photocards, and planner are somewhat useless... BUT THEY FEATURE PRETTY PICTURES OF THE PRETTIEST JIMIN, SO THIS SET IS STILL TOTALLY WORTH IT.

A second exhibition photobook that was created for Jungkook's birthday, this time by Jungkook fansite, The Knock. I guess I was feeling serious FOMO last year for Jungkook's birthday and tried to make up for it by buying photobooks. We're actually closer to Kookie's 24th birthday than we are to his 23rd now, but with the way this pandemic is going, I may just have to celebrate Kookie's birthday this year by buying more photobooks instead of going out.

Holy shit. I made a G.O. (group order) last September and I finally got some of the items delivered — eight months later. I almost forgot about it, to be honest. (And I'm still waiting on one item to arrive. Apparently, it hasn't even arrived in Canada yet. I suppose the amount of shipping delays since March isn't helping.) Weirdly enough, I'm not mad about it. I mean, G.O.s are known to have a long processing time. What's great about this, though, is that the package arrives as a nice surprise! Like a gift to yourself that you totally forgot about. Thus, I'm gonna open each item one by one. Because I need nice surprises to last as long as possible.

Candid B-Cut Photobook by Made in 1997

So today, I opened up this photobook that was created by Made in 1997, one of the most popular Jungkook fansites and one of my personal favourites. Some of her images (like the ones above) have become some of the most iconic from last year (and many of them ended up becoming my phone wallpaper). She created this photobook for an exhibition she held in Seoul last year for Jungkook's 23rd birthday. This was my way of participating in it since I couldn't just fly over to Seoul to attend all the Jungkook birthday events. It was also a way to celebrate Kookie's birthday since we were too late to get to Kookie's birthday cafe event last year and missed out on all the goods — coincidentally, it was also partnered with Made in 1997.
