I'm still waiting for subtitles to watch Yoongi's (two-hour!) livestream about his mixtape, but I will say, Kookie's guide for "Dear My Friend" is gorgeous.
Aside from the utter hilarity that Jinkook brings to the set (I swear, they are the most chaotic pair in BTS), the new Agust D storyline is epic — I really hope they release a second MV for D-2 (they usually release two MVs for solo mixtapes) and we get to see what happens to the tyrant king. Is he dead? Does he survive? Will he get his revenge? Will there be a final showdown? Does present-day Agust D ascend the throne? Will there even be a throne? THIS IS A WHOLE ASS K-DRAMA AND I AM LIVING FOR IT.
5:00AM. I get a notification just as my alarm clock goes off. With bleary eyes, I click on it and see this.
FUCK ME UP, MIN YOONGI.
Yeah
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Glitter, glitter, look at my crown, glitter
Remember, remember, days gone by, remember
We so fly, we so fly, private jet, we so fly
Yeah, uh, born a slave but now a king
Berserk tiger Gwanghae flow
Born in a ditch but rise up a dragon
That's the way I live
Sorry, but don’t worry
I got lots to lose
Shove the past into a rice chest
I'm about to dine on what I know is mine
Shut up, yeah, you calling me a pup, yeah
I was born a tiger, I ain't no weak pill-popper like you
Pathetic fucks putting on a talent show
Not gonna lie, what a shit-show
I got no pretensions, just kill ’em all
Ain't no exceptions, I watch you fall
Flexing, I got none
I don't need one
Who's the king, who's the boss
You all know my name
All shit-talk, they got no game
Off with their heads
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita Daechwita Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Hit this town then cut and run in a jet
This country's too small to hold me in yet
Woo, who says time is money
My time is worth more than that
Tic tok, got a stick up your ass
I'm about to spit in your face
Revenues keep going up, up, up, up, up, up, and up
Everyday, Bang PD keeps dancing on, on, on, on, on, on, and on
I'm so thankful I’m a genius
That’s your excuse for popping pills, cry me a river you just got no skills
I got everything I wanted, what more will make me feel contented
I wanted clothes, clothes, then money, money, then goal, goal, now what’s next
Yeah, what's next, here comes my reality check, there's nowhere higher
I only looked up and now I want to look down and put my feet on the ground
I'm a king, I’m a boss
Remember my name
All shit-talk, they got no game
Off with their heads
I'm a king, I'm a boss
You all know my name
All shit-talk, they got no game
Off with their heads
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita Daechwita Daechwita Daechwita, Daechwita, play it loud, Daechwita
I've listened to mono. about eight times through now, and while I thoroughly enjoy each and every one of the songs (as I said, the whole mixtape is 100% my aesthetic), I think "seoul" might just be my favourite.
RM released his second mixtape, mono., today, and all seven songs are 100% my aesthetic. Whereas RM's first mixtape, Rap Monster, and AgustD's self-titled mixtape are aggressive and hard, and J-Hope's Hope World is high energy and playful, RM's second highly-anticipated mixtape is smooth, mellow, poignant, and contemplative. All would fit perfectly in my "night time jams" playlist.
J-Hope finally dropped his mixtape this month after nearly a year-and-a-half of writing, mixing, and producing, and it has already set all sorts of records. While his first single is catchy, it's this second track (that dropped this week with no announcement or fanfare) that's really impressing me.
