Some souvenirs: An Amaluna mug and Cirque du Soleil notebook

They don't allow photography inside the theatre, so I got some shots of the Grand Chapiteau as per usual. The show, needless to say, was amazing. To be honest, I don't think I could be disappointed by a Cirque du Soleil show. I would say, however, that though the acrobatics are on par with Totem and Quidam, I thought Amaluna's stage set and costumes stood out more to me. They were just stunning. It was my friend's first time watching a Cirque du Soleil show, and as we were leaving, all she said was, "Guys, that was a truly religious experience."

The whole gang

Even though I did feel a little too old to appreciate it fully, it was cute and charming and enjoyable overall. Either way, the stupid brat sitting behind us that kept whining on and on and on made it much more annoying and harder to endure... On another note, Shawn and I went to see Cirque du Soleil's Quidam last night at the Ricoh Coliseum, and it was phenomenal. They don't allow cameras at all, so there is no photographic evidence, but I would say it was better than Totem as a whole (though not quite as magical because it was an arena show rather than a Grand Chapiteau show). Quidam was way, way, way creepier, though, like if I watched it as a kid, I would have nightmares for weeks to come. But still really fun and entertaining with amazing, jaw-dropping acts. I can't wait until next year's show!

Cirque du Soleil: Totem

Shawn and I went to see Cirque du Soleil's Totem tonight. The word "spectacular" doesn't even do this show justice.

Inside the concession/box office tent

Everyone should experience Cirque du Soleil at least once in their lives. It's really like an out-of-world experience. Once you walk through those tent doors, it's like you've entered a dream world. We weren't allowed to take pictures of the Grand Chapiteau (where the performance takes place), but it's absolutely fantastical. The stage sets and special effects are absolutely magnificent, but even they don't take away from the acrobatic performances. The entire time, you're like, "Holy shit, are people actually doing this?" It's almost unreal. The other thing I kept thinking was, "How the hell did they fit all of this in a tent?" I think most, if not all, the performances for the Toronto dates are sold out now (Totem is a touring circus show), but Quidam is coming to Toronto in December (for which I will be trying to get tickets ASAP). Cirque du Soleil takes circus and brings it to a whole new level of epic insanity. Without the clowns.
