BTS at the American Music Awards 2021: Favorite Pop Duo or Group Acceptance Speech, Favorite Pop Song Acceptance Speech, Artist of the Year Acceptance Speech, and "Butter"

on
Tuesday, November 23, 2021

Looks like ABC has given the rights to all performance footage at the AMAs to their respective artists! This is pretty rare for performances that were live on air and not pre-recorded, so let's just enjoy BTS' performance of "Butter" at the AMAs again. And on that note, ABC also uploaded all of BTS' acceptance speeches award which is also rare, especially for a major American network, so let's also enjoy BTS being the most adorable, most humble, and most awkward speech-givers, ever.

I also want to take this opportunity to say congratulations to BTS for being nominated for the second time for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance for the 64th Grammys! I absolutely hate the Recording Academy and BTS was very obviously snubbed by them ONCE AGAIN for literally every other category they submitted for, but I am not here to focus on the negative. BTS wants a Grammy Award, and I am here to support BTS. But I do want to bring up last year's Forbes article again: "As BTS continue smashing records and the Grammys continue to lose relevance, who really needs who?"

BTS at the 76th UN General Assembly: BTS at the Sustainable Development Goals Moment + "Permission to Dance" Performance

on
Monday, September 20, 2021

This is the reach of BTS' global impact.

Never before have we seen musicians (let alone pop artists from South Korea) with so much success and influence that they are not only invited to the UN General Assembly (for a 3rd year in a row), but also officially speak there as appointed Presidential Envoys for their country, and perform at the UN Headquarters (a place that only appointed officials are allowed to set foot in — and BTS just sang and danced all around it). This is a historical moment for BTS, one that sets them above the rest of their peers and the entire music industry by a much bigger, more important gap. People need to stop seeing them as just a boy band with pretty faces; these seven young men are extremely powerful and influential, and are literally leading today's youth to change the world for a better future. I have never been more proud to be an ARMY.

BTS Speech at the 75th UN General Assembly

on
Wednesday, September 23, 2020

"Our tomorrow may be dark, painful, and difficult. We might stumble or fall down. Stars shine brightest when the night is darkest. If the stars are hidden, we'll let moonlight guide us. If even the moon is dark, let our faces be the light that helps us find our way. Let's reimagine our world. We're huddled together tired, but let's dream again. Let's dream about a future when our worlds can break out of our small rooms again. It might feel like it's always night and we'll always be alone, but the night is always the darkest before the first light of dawn. Life goes on. Let's live on."

BTS for Dear Class of 2020 — Commencement Speech

on
Sunday, June 7, 2020

I graduated high school nine years before BTS even debuted, but still, you know I had to tune in to today's Dear Class of 2020 (hosted by the Obamas on YouTube) just to watch this. They look handsome and classy, they spoke clearly and charmingly, plus there was just enough silent awkwardness to make it endearingly BTS. Looking forward to their performance later! (But also, had I known that BigHit was gonna post their speech literally a second after it was aired on the livestream, I wouldn't have bothered watching a full two hours of it.)

BTS at 2018 MAMA in Hong Kong: Artist of the Year Award Speech

on
Friday, December 14, 2018

I woke up at 6:00 AM after two hours of sleep to watch MAMA in Hong Kong live. I don't think I have ever been such a diligent and dedicated fan to anyone or anything until BTS came into my life. It was an epic event, with BTS winning five awards tonight, including two Daesang (Grand Prize) for Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. MAMA ended at 10:45 AM (11:45 PM HKT) with BTS' speech for winning Artist of the Year, and I, along with BTS (and probably every other ARMY watching), bawled my fucking eyes out. We can see all the hard work and exhaustion and pressure they had to face this year, and even without translations, you can hear the sincerity and vulnerability behind each word. The thought of them disbanding actually makes my heart hurt and it's made me realize how much Bangtan is really like family to me now. It sounds lame and ridiculous, that I could feel so close to these seven boys who I've never met, but they've become my ultimate comfort, the people I escape to from life and work. They're with me in good times and bad, and as loyal as I have been to them, they have been loyal to me. When the time comes for them to disband, it will feel worse than a divorce; it will be like a death in the family, and I know all ARMYs will feel it. Even re-watching this now, I'm tearing up. I genuinely hope these boys get the happiness and rest they deserve. My sincere congratulations to BTS on their remarkable achievements this year.

BTS Speech at 73rd UN General Assembly

on
Monday, September 24, 2018

Amazing to see BTS advocating for today's youth in front of the United Nations today. RM's speech was insightful, inspirational, eloquent, and well-written. I'm in my 30s now, but I can really appreciate the message they're trying to deliver to the younger generation. I only wish I had role models like these when I was a teenager.
