BTS Members Now Have Instagram

on
Monday, December 6, 2021
Article Image

Well, I never thought I'd see the day. As of today, all members of BTS finally have their own Instagram accounts. On the one hand, it's about fucking time. They've probably had secret IG accounts for years to lurk in private. On the other hand, it's very telling that, on the heels of their 2nd official extended vacation announcement that it's revealed publicly (literally, it was on the international news), all seven of them now have individual IG accounts. Yes, eight years after their debut, a group that has always been "it's all of us or nothing" now have solo accounts. Something very interesting is going to happen for this "new chapter" that they're embarking on in 2022.

(But also, Jungkook's handle is witty as hell.)

Notice: BTS Map of the Soul Tour Cancellation

They finally made it official. I was holding on to a sliver of hope when the tour was just postponed but now we don't even have that, and this cancellation is absolutely devastating for BTS, ARMY, and all the staff, vendors, and venues that are involved. We know how hard BigHit tried to make this work just judging by how long it took them to officially cancel this tour. I am just heartbroken and it makes me fucking furious to know that there are people out there who aren't even TRYING to make this pandemic better.

  • BTS' "Life Goes On" is the first non-English language song to debut at #1 in Hot 100 history.
  • BTS' BE debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200.
  • BTS is the first band in U.S. history to debut a song and album at #1 in the same week.
  • BTS is the first band in history to earn multiple #1 debuts on the Hot 100.
  • BTS joins Taylor Swift as the only act in history to debut a song and album at #1 on the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously.
  • BTS becomes the first act in U.S. history to occupy the entire top 6 on the Digital Song Sales chart.
  • BTS' "Dynamite" and "Life Goes On" hold the top two biggest debut digital sales weeks among all singles in the U.S. this year.
  • BTS' "Life Goes On" is the first non-English song in music history that has topped the Billboard charts with a small amount of spins and no bundles or remixes. They are the first artists in history to reach this milestone.
  • BTS is the fastest group to generate five #1 albums in the U.S. since The Beatles (1966 - 1968).
  • There are only 11 non-English albums that have been #1 on the Billboard 200, and five of them belong to BTS.

Been on hold with Ikea for over an hour now, for the third time. I was supposed to receive two bookshelves on Sunday, and I missed the 9:30AM delivery because my phone was on silent and I was dead asleep. That was totally my fault, and I admit that. So I called them on the same day. The rep was seeing if the delivery truck was still out and maybe could be re-routed. No luck. I asked if I could just pick up the bookshelves somewhere, maybe at a store. The rep said it would be going back to the distribution centre, which is non-customer facing. Okay, that's fine, I decided to re-schedule. Had to pay another $50 for a re-delivery. I was frustrated, but that's the price to pay for my mistake. The rep gave me several dates and time frames to choose from, so I chose Wednesday, again from 9:00AM - 1:00PM, because that was the soonest delivery time.

Wednesday came. I get a call from the delivery company at 8:00AM saying that my delivery was set to arrive. I made sure my phone was set to hear phone calls. Even got my mom and Ying to call me to make sure I could hear the ringtone. 1:00PM came and went. No phone call, no delivery. I called the delivery company that called me that morning to get an update. They said my items were at the Vaughan store and there was a note left saying that the items couldn't be successfully transferred to the delivery company. I said, "It's at the Vaughan store? I asked the Ikea rep on Sunday if I could have just picked up my bookshelves at a store, and he said it would be at the distribution centre that customers can't access. If it was going to the Vaughan store, I could have just picked it up." Of course, the rep could only tell me to contact Ikea, or the Vaughan store itself to see what happened to my items. I understood that it wasn't the delivery company's fault. They're just the middle man.

So I called Ikea again. Another hour wait to talk to a rep. Told him what happened, that I had already called about a re-delivery, paid the $50 fee, and it was set to arrive that morning and that I even got an automated message from the delivery company saying that it was going to arrive that morning. The rep didn't apologize, nothing. Didn't even give me a reason as to where my items were. I had to tell him that the delivery company rep told me they were at the Vaughan store. He said, "Oh, I don't see that notice anywhere." So he had to re-schedule another delivery time. He said the soonest time was on Thursday, from 4:00PM - 8:00PM. I said I have work, but I would get my mom to come over to accept the delivery. So that's fine, he confirmed the time with me. I even gave him my mom's phone number as a backup number.

Yesterday was Thursday. My mom came over. 8:00PM came and went. No delivery. No notice. No phone call. My Ikea tracking just says "On its way," but it's been that way since Sunday. Called Ikea yet again at 8:00PM. Their phone centre closes at 9:00PM, so I had about an hour to be able to reach them. Got my mom to call them from her phone because I had work. Waited until 9:15PM, still no answer. Hung up. My mom went home. Now, wasting my time is one thing. But wasting another person's time as well? That is fucking unacceptable. Now it's Friday. And I'm on hold with them again. It's been an hour, and I still haven't reached someone, and their hold music is ultra fucking annoying. But I am hell-bent on cancelling this order and demanding my delivery fee refunded as well. Basically, FUCK YOU, IKEA.

BTS MAKES HISTORY YET AGAIN! Not gonna lie, I teared up when I saw the news this afternoon, my heart bursting with pride and happiness for BTS. (Like the boys themselves, who stayed up until 5:30AM KST to wait for chart to be updated, and who all cried out of joy all over social media here, here, here, here, here, here, and alloverWeverse upon hearing the news.) Seven years after their debut and hot on the heels of their four MTV VMA wins last night, they have finally gotten their first #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. This is the last main Billboard chart that they had yet to get a #1 and they finally did it with "Dynamite," making them the first South Korean group to top this chart. Congratulations, my baby boys. You finally did it, and there's honestly no one more deserving of this.

Bang Bang Con: The Live — Ending

From "Dope" to "Spring Day" — with all the subunit songs and snippets of "UGH!" and "Zero O' Clock," plus a fun remix of "Boy With Luv" that included lit-up umbrellas in between — all the stages were beautifully done and you could really see the amount of time and effort that the boys (and the BigHit team) took to create this concert for us. (I never thought they would perform "Spring Day" with the full choreography live again after the Wings: The Final tour. I may have gotten a little emotional, 'cause "Spring Day" is that sad bitch.) The postponement of their tour this year was extremely disappointing and sad for both BTS and ARMY, and I've mentioned more than once that it was the only thing I had to look forward to in 2020. But this livestream concert that BTS prepared for us today was spectacular, and though I miss them now more than ever, it did almost make up for not being able to see them in person.

Got this warning from the Ontario Emergency Alert system today. Previously, these were used exclusively for Amber Alerts, so I guess people still aren't taking this pandemic seriously enough. I, on the other hand, took this as a reminder to deep-clean the house: scrubbing down the bathtub and toilet with bleach, wiping down all the counters and the sink with Lysol, dusting all the shelving units, Swiffer-ing all the hardwood floors, vacuuming the carpet, doing the laundry, etc. So I'm exhausted now. Gonna spend the rest of the night doing some online shopping and watching Crash Landing on You. Hope everyone is staying safe. (Also, yes, my phone wallpaper is of Jimin in the middle of dancing during the Love Yourself Tour with his hand hovering over his crotch.)

I am currently on my third full listen of Map of the Soul: 7. It just gets better and better with every listen. (Major kudos to all the Korean translators out there, who had every single song lyric translated into English within a couple hours of release. They're the real MVPs.) Every song has totally different sounds, subgenres, productions, and sentiments that somehow come together seamlessly and cohesively into a big, overarching story of their journey together as BTS. It's truly a rollercoaster ride of verbal and sonic emotions.

The group songs are all standouts: the haunting, bass-heavy prayer of overcoming hardships, "Louder Than Bombs"; the empowering epiphany and love song to ARMY, "We are Bulletproof: The Eternal";  the dark, poignant, trap-driven gem, "Black Swan"; and the powerhouse fight song, "ON." The group songs in particular really resonate with me because they're all reflective of the group as a whole, from their hardships to their triumphs, from starting as nobodies to overcoming their struggles to coming out at the top.

As for solos, I'm gonna go with Suga's deep, grimy, introspective "Interlude: Shadow," of which the full version is still as explosive and hard-hitting as the MV version; Jimin's sexy, Latin-inspired, self-confidence booster, "Filter"; and Jungkook's R&B-driven, coming-of-age confessional, "My Time." As for subunit songs, it's gotta be the rap line's "UGH!", a badass, rage-fuelled cypher to the cowards who spread hate hidden behind masks; and the polar opposite, which is the vocal line's "00:00 (Zero O' Clock)," a sweet, comforting, hope-driven song about getting past hardships and burdens because time heals all.

RM wasn't kidding when he said that it's "better and harder" than anything they've done before. Frankly, this album is a masterpiece.

Trying to buy merch for the 'Love Yourself: Speak Yourself' The Final on Weply has become way too fucking frustrating with not being able to checkout, products getting sold out without any sort of notice, and then finally getting through checkout only to be issued a refund right away (which sucks because the money comes out of your account immediately, but refunds take days to actually get the money back), and now getting the "We are under maintenance" page every time I try to checkout. So I just ordered Bring the Soul on Weverse, and I am gonna cheer myself up with Bring the Soul: The Movie Commentary. Because BTS cures all negativity.
