RM: Right People, Wrong Place: Interview #1 — Intro

on
Tuesday, November 19, 2024

Got our tickets for the December 7 viewing! Given how raw and honest and unfiltered Right Place, Wrong Person is, I just know this film is going to be a work of art.

Oooooh, something to look forward to when I get back from Asia! I was so disappointed that I missed the livestreams for Day 1 and 2 of Suga's D-DAY: THE FINAL; I bought the livestream for Day 3, which I don't regret because WOW, WHAT A FINALE, but I do regret not being able to watch his collab stages with Jungkook and Jimin. However, it looks like the movie will include the "special performances by the guest artists" AND it'll be on IMAX screens so we can experience the magic all over again and on GIGANTIC, HIGH-DEF SCREENS IN THEATRES! I think it goes without saying that I will be attending. At least one of the viewings. Maybe more, if I can fit it in my schedule...

IU — "Love Wins All" Official MV

on
Tuesday, January 23, 2024

I have never had this many tears run uncontrollably down my face from watching a music video. I went into this without any expectations, without reading any commentary or spoilers, and this ended up being the most beautifully heartbreaking short film I've ever seen. I don't listen to a lot of IU's music, but I've always appreciated her as a singer-songwriter and as an actress (Hotel del Luna remains one of my favourite K-dramas of all time), and this MV really showcases her impeccable skills at both. Her unexpectedly spectacular chemistry with V, who shows off his acting chops again after an 8-year hiatus since 2016's Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, also somehow surpasses the majority of couples I've watched in dramas. This is truly a 5-minute cinematic masterpiece, and if there was a category in the Academy Awards for music videos, this would undoubtedly win.

This was an unexpected but extremely pleasant surprise. It did seem like FACE didn't get a lot of behind-the-scenes footage like some of the other members' projects, so now we know why. Can't wait to watch it!

Jungkook — "Seven" Recording Film

on
Tuesday, July 25, 2023

"He's a huge star and he's had huge hits. He was so open and willing to try, like, so many people would just sing the song and then be like, 'Okay, I'm done, sounds great.' And he was just willing to go and go and go until it was right. He's not doing that for everyone else to hear, he's doing that for himself. He's doing that for himself because he knows he can get it better. He knows what he can do. He's a perfectionist." — Producer Andrew Watt

"I'm Korean, but I'd like to be the one and only singer who can cross back and forth between K-Pop and pop songs. I'm gonna conquer all genres… I will follow my own compass." — Jeon Jungkook

At the Theatre: Agust D | SUGA D-DAY Tour in Japan — Live Viewing

So, I went with Iris to watch the live viewing of the SUGA | Agust D D-DAY Tour in Japan in theatres this evening. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. The setlist was fucking amazing:

  1. Haegeum
  2. Daechwita
  3. Agust D
  4. Give it to Me
  5. Trivia: Seesaw
  6. SDL
  7. People
  8. People Pt. 2
  9. Moonlight
  10. Burn It
  11. Interlude: Shadow
  12. Cypher Pt. 3: Killer / Cypher 4 / UGH! / Ddaeng / HUH?!
  13. Life Goes On
  14. Snooze
  15. Polar Night
  16. Amygdala
  17. D-Day
  18. Intro: Nevermind
  19. The Last

It was the perfect mix of old and new songs, of mellow and aggressive songs, of Agust D and Suga. It covered a myriad of moods: sadness, anger, frustration, comfort. Even the VCRs — which featured an intricate storyline of Agust D vs. Suga vs. Min Yoongi — were detailed, intriguing, and beautifully shot. I've always known Yoongi to be an incredible musician, performer, and artist, but he's overwhelmingly impressive as a solo artist. His raw emotion, aggression, sincerity, and lyrical power are nothing short of electrifying.

Anyway. I have a massive crush on Yoongi now, so.

J-Hope in the Box Highlight: J-Hope's Daily Life

"The beginning of this project? It was before I even debuted. At least the name was already there. I had always wanted to try writing my own music and performing solo... It's not like I planned to do this, but it all happened like destiny. And this is where I am now."

Just finished watching J-Hope in the Box. Amazing to see Hobi's journey as an artist. Can't wait to see what he'll have in store for the Hope on the Street project.

At the Theatre: BTS Yet to Come in Cinemas

Went to watch the final showing of BTS Yet to Come in Cinemas with Iris this afternoon!

While the livestream was good (minus the lagging issues), watching this concert on the big screen with surround sound (my god, the live band was even more insane) and my fellow ARMY was nothing short of incredible. Everyone was respectful of each other, just singing along to the songs, cheering with the crowd, waving ARMY Bombs... It felt like coming home.

At the Theatre: BTS Permission to Dance: On Stage in Seoul — Live Viewing

on
Saturday, March 12, 2022

Just came back from watching BTS' Permission to Dance: On Stage in Seoul at the theatre, and I am FLYING.

Tonight's set list:

  1. ON
  2. Fire (Remix)
  3. Dope
  4. DNA
  5. Blue & Grey
  6. Black Swan
  7. Blood Sweat & Tears
  8. Fake Love
  9. Life Goes On
  10. Boy With Luv
  11. Dynamite
  12. Butter
  13. Telepathy
  14. Outro: Wings
  15. Stay
  16. So What
  17. Idol
  18. Epilogue: Young Forever (ARMY Clapper Event)
  19. Home
  20. Anpanman
  21. Go Go
  22. Permission to Dance

It was so fucking good. The set list is pretty similar to the LA concerts except for some minor changes in the second half (I love that they decided to change up several songs for all three days in Seoul), but man, the energy is truly different when you're actually cheering with other ARMY and not just watching a livestream alone at home. (Ironic because they didn't allow any cheering at the actual concerts due to COVID regulations in Korea and had to provide them with clappers — it was a little awkward to say the least.) God, I can't wait until Vegas. (Where they allow as much live cheering as you want!)

Unboxing: BTS — Break the Silence: The Movie Poster Set

on
Friday, December 11, 2020
Opened up my final package from Korgou today, a purchase I almost forgot that I made: the poster set for BTS' Break the Silence: The Movie. I have the movie posters for their other documentary films, so you know, I had to.

Finally went to watch Break the Silence with Ying this evening! Great documentary, as expected, with interesting interviews from each of the boys reflecting on who they really are versus their stage personas, along with plenty of behind-the-scenes footage of their Speak Yourself Tour last year. Only problem is, I left the theatre feeling bittersweet because the movie was such a beautiful and joyous walk down memory lane of the concerts I went to last year at MetLife Stadium, that it only served as a bitter reminder of their Map of the Soul Tour being cancelled this year. We did, however, make up for our melancholy by pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition of the upcoming BTS album, BE (!!!), to be released in November. The perfect birthday gift to myself, if I do say so.

Tickets for international viewings of Break the Silence were released today! Ordered tickets for myself and Ying for an evening show on the Sunday. Glad they're taking precautions with the seating arrangements and sectioning off 1/2 of theatres here. (It is reserved seating in pairs only, in every other row.) I would've been really sad if I had missed watching this in the theatre 'cause I haven't missed a single BTS documentary yet. (In fact, I usually watch each movie twice. At least.)

Trying to buy merch for the 'Love Yourself: Speak Yourself' The Final on Weply has become way too fucking frustrating with not being able to checkout, products getting sold out without any sort of notice, and then finally getting through checkout only to be issued a refund right away (which sucks because the money comes out of your account immediately, but refunds take days to actually get the money back), and now getting the "We are under maintenance" page every time I try to checkout. So I just ordered Bring the Soul on Weverse, and I am gonna cheer myself up with Bring the Soul: The Movie Commentary. Because BTS cures all negativity.

Day off, which means I finally got to watch the first episode of BTS' new Bring the Soul: Docu-Series that was released yesterday. I'm really loving the overall tone and production of the series, and I like that they saved the more in-depth interviews for this project over the movie. I like that they're consistent with who they are, and keep it as raw and honest as they can. Can't wait for next week's episode.
