A couple months ago, Jeffree Star Cosmetics released their second eyeshadow palette called Androgyny, which Jeffree has said is inspired by "being fearless and yourself... [This is about] owning your own self and showing your self-worth... androgyny is a good example of being you, being completely fearless and really not letting anyone tell you what to do. It’s very masculine and feminine at the same time." It is described as their "version of a 'neutral' palette. Endless possibilities to create and explore. Experience [their] 2 finishes: super mattes and metallic. 10 jaw-dropping shades. Extreme pigment." It is housed in a huge rectangular hot pink faux-leather palette with an interior mirror and magnetic closure; the lid features the Jeffree Star Cosmetics logo and "Androgyny" written in block letters with a Baroque frame design. The eyeshadows are embossed with Jeffree Star's star logo. Each Androgyny Eyeshadow Palette contains a total of 25.2 grams of product, and retails for $45 USD. It is available online at Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Beautylish, and Beauty Bay.

The first thing you'll notice about Jeffree Star's eyeshadow palettes is the size: It is huge. Each pan of eyeshadow has a whopping 2.52 grams of product, which means it is nearly double the average eyeshadow size (about 1.3 to 1.5 grams). The second thing you'll notice is that the placement of colours in Androgyny are far more cohesive than in Beauty Killer; they make sense and they flow more naturally together. The first row has what Jeffree Star calls "neutrals"; they're a little more vivid than your typical everyday neutrals, but still widely flattering and wearable. The second row includes pops of sultry colours that aren't too bright but add more flair and fun to eye looks than plain neutrals. Again, all widely flattering on all complexions, which is one thing I really appreciate about Jeffree Star's shade selection — he always includes colours that will look good on every skintone. The third thing you'll notice is the outstanding textures of these shadows. Every single shade is incredibly pigmented, smooth, and blendable. What you see in the pan is what you get in execution. There are a myriad of really gorgeous looks that you can create from this, from everyday neutral to warm sunset looks to a peacock blue smoky eye. You can even create subtle, office-appropriate looks with it. Unlike Beauty Killer, Androgyny is great for someone who is used to neutrals but wants to add some colour to their looks. It has a good mix of warm and cool tones that will help anyone get out of their neutral comfort zone without getting too intimidated.

Peach Goddess and King Tut

Peach Goddess is a light-medium warm peachy pink in a metallic finish. This is a permanent shade. It has a soft, buttery texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker and warmer than Jeffree Star Princess Cut, darker and more pink than MAC Soft and Gentle, lighter and warmer than Anastasia Beverly Hills Tourmaline, darker and more pink than Anastasia Beverly Hills Crushed Pearl, darker and more pink than Anastasia Beverly Hills Starburst, more pink than Becca Opal, and brighter than Makeup Geek Luster.
King Tut is a light-medium warm peachy gold in a metallic finish. This is a permanent shade. It has a soft, buttery texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is lighter and more peach than Jeffree Star So Fucking Gold, more gold than MAC Global Glow, more gold than MAC Beaming Blush, darker and more gold than Becca Champagne Pop, more peach than Anastasia Beverly Hills Dripping in Gold, more gold than Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow, and more gold than Makeup Geek Midnight Sun.

There are 11 shades currently available in the Skin Frost formula, and while a lot of shades are unconventional and more editorial (like black, hot pink, and mint green), there are plenty of other very pretty, very wearable shades that flatter all complexions so there's something for everyone. (I picked the two shades that I felt would suit my tastes and my skintone the best.) Like the Beauty Killer palette, the Skin Frosts are hugely oversized; they're about double the size of the average powder highlighter. (The compact is bigger than my palm, and is by far the biggest singular compact I have ever seen. Apparently, Jeffree Star really believes in the saying, "Go big or go home.") A little goes a long way, so it's really unlikely that anyone will actually go through an entire highlighter unless brushed all over the face, body, and eyes (and yes, these are tested for the eye area) every single day for, like, two years. So really, at $29 USD for a whopping 15 grams of product, you are getting a whole lotta bang for your buck. Despite the massive compacts, the wide shade range, and incredibly unique colours, what is truly outstanding here is the formula. It has that soft, dense, buttery texture, incredible pigmentation, and pearlized metallic finish that made Becca's highlighters so famous. It creates the kind of glow that you can see from a mile away — the kind of glow that could stop at least a dozen post-Millennials in their tracks to tell you that your highlight is "on fleek." So, yeah. If you are a fellow highlighter fiend, then you're headed for trouble with these.

It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is slightly powdery, but can be layered and blended out easily. Confession is a medium-dark warm copper-burgundy with a cranberry-pink shimmer-sheen in a frosted finish. This is a permanent shade. It has a soft, buttery texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. Vanity is a deep-dark cool blackened brown in a matte finish. This is a permanent shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker and cooler than MAC Embark, darker and warmer than MAC Brun, and similar to Makeup Geek Americano.
China White is a pale warm cream white in a matte finish. This is a permanent shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily.  It is similar to MAC Vanilla, slightly darker and warmer than MAC Gesso, and slightly cooler than Too Faced Coconut Créme (Semi-Sweet Chocolate Palette).
Black Rainbow is a deep-dark cool black with gold and teal micro-glitter in a matte finish. This is a permanent shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is slightly powdery, but can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker than MAC Black Tied, more sparkly than Urban Decay Blackout, and less sparkly than Make Up For Ever D104 Black Diamond.

The first thing you'll notice is the size of this palette: It is huge. By far the biggest pre-assembled palette I have ever seen. Each pan of eyeshadow has a whopping 2.52 grams of product, which means it is nearly double the average eyeshadow size (about 1.3 to 1.5 grams). The second thing you'll notice is that the colour placement in the palette doesn't seem to follow any particular scheme. It's got neutrals and brights. Cool tones and warm tones. Mattes and metallics. But it's actually far more wearable than you might think. There are a myriad of really gorgeous looks that you can create from this, from bright and colourful halo eyes to dark and sultry smoky eyes. You can even create subtle, office-appropriate, everyday looks with it. That having been said, this palette is not for basic eyeshadow wearers. It is for someone who loves playing with colour and experimenting with different eye looks. Like Jeffree Star himself, this palette is fun, flamboyant, expressive, and a little wild.

What's most outstanding about this palette is the textures of the shadows. The mattes are incredibly pigmented, smooth, and blendable. Like most black or blackened shadows, Vanity and Black Rainbow are a bit powdery so they do cause some fallout (and, as a result, they look patchy in arm swatches), but they have amazing colour pay-off and blend out well. I will note, however, that the glitter in Black Rainbow doesn't translate on to the eye, which is common with a lot of matte eyeshadows with sparkle; for full impact, I would use a tackier eye base and then pack the shadow on with a flat synthetic brush. The truly impressive shades here, though, are the frosts/metallics: Violence, Rich Bitch, and Confession. They go on with a dense, buttery smoothness and give off the kind of rich, saturated colour pay-off found in pigments and foiled shadows. (Rich Bitch is especially striking. I actually exclaimed, "Holy shit!" the moment I swatched it.) That having been said, this palette will intimidate the majority of people. Beauty Killer is for people who love and embrace wearing colour, and it's totally in line with Jeffree Star's artistic vision and indulgent style — his liquid lipsticks and highlighters also come in very unique, "editorial" colours that look amazing but aren't for the average consumer. So, is this a must-have? No, not by any means. But, god, it sure is gorgeous.
