Sunday Video Love: CROWN (Choreography Version)

BigHit's new boy group, TXT (Tomorrow x Together, a.k.a. BTS' little brother group), debuted a couple weeks ago and they're already slaying the K-pop rookie game: The music video of their debut single, "CROWN," broke the record for the most viewed K-pop debut music video within 24 hours; their EP, The Dream Chapter: Star, became the highest-charting debut album by a male K-pop group on the Billboard 200; and they got their first win on a Korean music show literally eight days after they debuted. Because I follow BigHit on all social media platforms, I've been aware of TXT and their activities since they were introduced in January, so I did watch their "CROWN" music video literally as it was released (I got a notification for their video at like, 5:00 AM) and I did download their EP on Apple Music as well just to see what they were all about. Overall, I like their concept (growing up, learning about their flaws, and trying to find acceptance) and their choreography, and I do think their image and their sound is fresh and youthful, but their music had to grow on me. I think initially their songs sounded almost too poppy for me, and somewhat generic as well. But I kept listening and well, catchy is catchy. And now I can't not bop to "CROWN" (as well as "Our Summer," which is my favourite song from the EP). I won't compare them to BTS because that'll be like comparing apples and oranges (I also won't stan another musical artist like I do BTS), but TXT have had a tremendous start to their careers so it'll be interesting to see how they'll grow and evolve on their journey.
