J-Hope at 2022 MAMA: "MORE," "Arson," and "Future"

on
Wednesday, November 30, 2022

MAMA was not ready for the absolute raw performance power that is J-Hope. I've said this before, but J-Hope could absolutely sell out a solo world tour and fucking kill it.

Congratulations to BTS for winning Worldwide Fans Choice, Best Male Group, Worldwide Icon of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and the first ever MAMA Platinum Trophy, which is only given to artists who have won all four daesangs at once! BTS have now won a record 70 daesangs, the most for any act in history (!!!).

BTS at The Fact Music Awards 2022: "Yet to Come" and "For Youth"

on
Saturday, October 8, 2022

This video will probably get deleted for copyright soon, so enjoy this performance — BTS' first one together since they announced their group music hiatus — while you can!

And with that having been said, a HUGE CONGRATS to BTS for winning 7 awards today, including the Artist of the Year Daesang, extending their record as the artist with the most Daesangs of all time!

BTS EPISODE: 64th Grammy Awards

on
Monday, July 4, 2022

Honestly, who has a better work ethic than BTS in the music industry? To pull off that stage so flawlessly with one injured member and two members recovering from COVID? It's been three months since the Grammys, I've watched the performance at least 32 times, and I'm still in awe.

BTS FESTA 2022: Practice Record '21 — "Butter" (Grammy ver.)

on
Saturday, June 11, 2022

Okay, I know they said they only had one day to practice for this performance as a group because Jin had injured his hand and Jungkook had just come out of quarantine, but they fucking killed it. Their performance of "Butter" at the 2022 Grammys will forever be the most epic performance that has blessed the Grammys stage and also be one of the most iconic performances that BTS has ever done in public.

BTS at the 2022 GRAMMYs: "Butter"

on
Monday, April 18, 2022

In all the Vegas hubbub and getting settled back at home after spending nearly 12 hours traveling yesterday, I discovered that the Recording Academy finally uploaded BTS' performance of "Butter," a.k.a. the best, most impressive, most memorable, and most talked about performance at this year's Grammys, despite only having one day of practice together and having a 60% success rate of running flawlessly.

I will proceed to re-watch this 37 times. With the dance break in slow-mo, to really dissect that crazy group jacket move.

(Addendum, 04/22/22: Updated with the official performance video from BTS' channel.)

THE MOST EPIC PERFORMANCE OF "BUTTER," OF THE GRAMMYS, AND OF THE YEAR. BAR NONE.

Even my brother texted me just to say, "Wow, BTS. That was legitimately impressive." God, they need to release the official footage ASAP. I need to re-watch it at least 102 times.

Oh, and they didn't put their performance at the end of the show just for views! Colour me surprised. Their category is coming up in the next hour. Crossing fingers that the Recording Academy will continue to surprise me tonight. As expected, the Recording Academy did not surprise me.

Jeon Jungkook on the 2022 Grammys Red Carpet

Our boys have arrived on the red carpet and looking fucking fine in custom Louis Vuitton. Jungkook got out of quarantine yesterday and he is not playing around. COVID got nothing on them.

Whether or not they win a Grammy tonight, I'm going to reiterate the same question that every ARMY is asking again today: Does BTS need the Grammys or does the Grammys need BTS?

BTS EPISODE: American Music Awards 2021

on
Tuesday, February 1, 2022

Jungkook: "ARMY are gonna make fun of me again! What do I do?"
Namjoon: "Just accept it and go home."
Jungkook: "Ah, I wanted to look cool... Getting dragged off at the end..."

I don't often like music award shows, but this one was the best and most memorable one I've seen in recent years, with BTS' first live performance of "My Universe" with Coldplay and making history again by being the first Asian artists ever to get the Artist of the Year award at the AMAs. God, I miss them so much. I really hope Jimin is recovering well and that the Year of the Tiger brings them joy and happiness and health (and finally gives us a fucking world tour).

BTS at the American Music Awards 2021: Favorite Pop Duo or Group Acceptance Speech, Favorite Pop Song Acceptance Speech, Artist of the Year Acceptance Speech, and "Butter"

on
Tuesday, November 23, 2021

Looks like ABC has given the rights to all performance footage at the AMAs to their respective artists! This is pretty rare for performances that were live on air and not pre-recorded, so let's just enjoy BTS' performance of "Butter" at the AMAs again. And on that note, ABC also uploaded all of BTS' acceptance speeches award which is also rare, especially for a major American network, so let's also enjoy BTS being the most adorable, most humble, and most awkward speech-givers, ever.

I also want to take this opportunity to say congratulations to BTS for being nominated for the second time for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance for the 64th Grammys! I absolutely hate the Recording Academy and BTS was very obviously snubbed by them ONCE AGAIN for literally every other category they submitted for, but I am not here to focus on the negative. BTS wants a Grammy Award, and I am here to support BTS. But I do want to bring up last year's Forbes article again: "As BTS continue smashing records and the Grammys continue to lose relevance, who really needs who?"

Coldplay x BTS — "My Universe" (Live at the AMAs)

on

THE FIRST LIVE PERFORMANCE FOR "MY UNIVERSE"! THEY'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS MOMENT AND IT IS MAGIC. (And I am so glad that Coldplay got the rights to release this footage officially on their channel so we can re-live the glory in HD instead of watching shitty clips on Twitter!)

"Nobody could have bet on us standing here today, except for ARMYs. Seven boys from Korea, united by love and music, and the love supported by ARMYs all over the world. This whole thing is a miracle. I wanna give this honour to you guys." — Kim Namjoon, Artist of the Year Speech at the AMAs

And with that, BTS BECOMES THE FIRST ASIAN ACT IN AMAs HISTORY TO WIN ARTIST OF THE YEAR. Another record broken tonight!

BTS EPISODE: 63rd Grammy Awards

on
Wednesday, September 29, 2021

"We lost, but we fought hard."

This is bringing back too many angry and disappointed feelings. There are many categories at the Grammys in which you know the competition is going to be tough and it's hard to predict who will win. But as it's the Grammys, you also know that it is completely rigged. Still, we hold on to the hope that this is the year that it'll be slightly less rigged. Right now, there are no better musical performances out there, from concept to execution, than BTS'. In the pop duo/group performance category, no one else deserved to win. If it was one of the main categories — best artist, best album, best song, etc. — I'd understand. But BTS was supposed to have this in the bag. And then you remember that it's the Grammys and if there is another artist out there who is white or American or English-speaking, you know that that artist is going to win it, even if their performance is mediocre or subpar or far from their best work. BTS was absolutely robbed, and even American media and other celebrities agreed and voiced this publicly. So, really, at the end of the day, our collective message to the Grammys remains the same: FUCK YOU.

BTS EPISODE: 2020 MAMA

on
Saturday, August 7, 2021

Well, it only took them eight months to finally post the behind-the-scenes for 2020 MAMA and we're closer to this year's MAMA than last year's, but hey, better late than never, right?

I will never forget last year's MAMA because it was a fucking million years long and I didn't go to bed until 11:00AM, but those performances were truly epic. I ask this all the time, but who in the music industry is working harder than BTS?

BTS EPISODE: 2020 MMA

on
Saturday, June 26, 2021

Man, the emotional roller coaster I just went through watching this video.

First, I was all like 😍😍😍 because YAY, they finally released the behind the scenes of one of the most beautiful, elegant, iconic performances, ever. (Jungkook and Jimin's pas de deux for the "Black Swan" intro performance will forever be legendary.)

Then, I was all like 🤤🤤🤤 because HOLY FUCK THEY ARE SO FUCKING HOT during the "ON" performance, from the hair to the makeup to the outfits to the swagger. I swear, these guys are unparalleled when it comes to stage charisma.

But then, I was all like 🥺😭🥺 because of this:

Tae: "It feels wrong somehow because Suga isn't here."
Jimin, pointing at the screen: "Even when we do that."
RM: "Yeah, it's true, though. It is wrong. When one of us isn't here."
Jin: "Suga not being here is wrong."

BTS at the Billboard Music Awards 2021: "Butter"

on
Monday, May 24, 2021

Congratulations to BTS for winning ALL FOUR (!!!) of the Billboard Music Awards they were selected for this year:
  • Top Duo/Group
  • Top Song Sales Artist
  • Top Social Artist
  • Top Selling Song ("Dynamite")
And THANK YOU to BTS for this fucking amazing first performance of "Butter" with those INSANE dance breaks that I had to re-watch about 18 times and has already become ICONIC.

Just waiting for the "Butter" merch to drop...  Aaaaand I just spent $180 on "Butter" merch.

BTS at the 63rd Grammy Awards: "Dynamite"

on
Wednesday, April 21, 2021

The Grammys absolutely did not deserve this performance, but BTS absolutely deserved to be on the Grammys.

BTS EPISODE: 2020 MTV VMAs

on
Saturday, March 20, 2021

I'm still fucking vexed that they didn't win the performance Grammy for "Dynamite." I'm sorry, but they performed this song for over 30 different stages, each one totally different with increasing complexities and dynamics, and the Recording Academy gave it to a song that was performed live ONCE? (Which was actually for the VMAs, and was totally forgettable, underwhelming, and terribly choreographed? Sorry, Lady Gaga, but I know what you are capable of, and your performance for "Rain on Me" was honestly absolute shit.) I get that America isn't ready for a Korean boy band to get nominated for any of the main awards, but for BTS — literally the top performers in the world — to get nominated for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance and NOT WIN? That is bullshit of the highest order. I am obviously looking at this with a biased outlook, but even non-ARMY, locals, other artists, and people that are otherwise indifferent to BTS could see what an absolute fucking scam the Recording Academy is.

I'm not going to comment on the blatant xenophobia and clout-baiting of the Recording Academy. It's nothing new, and there's already enough rage over this on all social media platforms. But when BTS' performance is aired tonight, they will show the world why they deserved the performance award more than anyone else.
