Had dinner with my mom at The Pickle Barrel (since she refuses to drive further than 5 kilometres from our house). I ordered the shiitake mushroom chicken penne, 'cause I haven't had it in a long time (I always opt for the seafood linguine when I'm there). It's probably my second favourite pasta on their menu. It has a good meat to vegetable to pasta ratio. And it's in a light cream sauce. It is rather oily, so if you do manage to finish the entire plate, you do feel super-bloaty. But, it's tasty and it's a classic.

  1. How do you ever decide on what to eat at the Pickle Barrel? Just 'cause there are like 2083471098 items on the menu! I always get overwhelmed.

    I do remember liking their pesto pasta dish... I think it's fusilli.

Haha, it's because I tend to go there once a week (with my mom, 'cause as I said, that's the only place we eat at since it's within driving distance for her - meaning within two major intersections), and I try to order something different every time. And I know what I don't like (e.g. healthy things) which cuts down maybe 1/3 of the menu... :P
