MAC's Semi-Precious collection sees the release of four new and limited edition shades of Mineralize Skinfinish, of which I picked up three. The Mineralize products in the Semi-Precious collection feature the use of four new finely milled gems to bring new dimensions: bronzite (golden-bronze), pyrite (golden), lepidolite (lilac), and tourmaline (black). These Mineralize Skinfinishes contain an outer ring of colour and a multi-coloured centre. They are housed in regular black packaging with clear lids. Each Mineralize Skinfinish contains 6.5 grams of product and retails for $33.50.
Mineralize Skinfinish in Rose Quartz
Mineralize Skinfinish in Rose Quartz
Rose Quartz has a medium strawberry pink outer ring, with a centre of silver, lime, white pink, and copper. When mixed together, the result is a soft warm pink with a champagne sheen and gold shimmer. This shade can build up in colour, but it can look too powdery and metallic if you layer on too much, as with many Mineralize Skinfinish products (e.g. Soft & Gentle and Gold Deposit). It does look lovely on its on as a sheer wash of colour on cheeks, and it also works well to soften bright blushes or to add shimmer to matte blushes.
Mineralize Skinfinish in Pearl
Mineralize Skinfinish in Pearl
Pearl has a beige champagne outer ring, with a centre of white, plum, and bronze. When mixed together, the result is a soft amber bronze with a champagne sheen and shimmer. I actually find that this shade offers more pigmentation than the other two, and looks wonderful on its own as a blush, as opposed to just a highlight or a layering product. It is a soft shade, to be fair, so if you like brighter or darker blushes, or blushes that offer a significant amount of colour, you might want to use this on top of a blush to enhance it.
Mineralize Skinfinish in Goldstone
Mineralize Skinfinish in Goldstone
Goldstone has a medium-dark shimmery bronze outer ring, with a centre of rose pink and white gold. When mixed together, the result is a soft bronze with gold sheen and shimmer. It's a great option for those who like shimmery bronzers, or those who like to use bronzer as a blush. Goldstone does lean a bit orange so it's more suitable for warmer undertones, though I think anyone can use this to add warmth and shimmer to their complexion. It seems like a more shimmery version of Give Me Sun! Mineralize Skinfinish Natural.
Overall, these three shades of Mineralize Skinfinish are really nice options for those who want some colour and shimmer to their complexions. I would advise to be careful of over-applying, since all three of them will look too metallic for face/cheek products. These three shades also lean warm, so they will suit warmer undertones better. They will work on pale to medium-dark skintones best, since they may look too powdery on dark skintones. I do think Goldstone can work beautifully as a highlight on dark skintones, though. I like that these shades of Mineralize Skinfinish can work as something other than a highlight shade. I can see all of them working nicely as blushes, or on top of blushes for a beautiful glow. Of all the products in Semi-Precious, I actually think these look the most summer-appropriate. Great for those seeking that "J. Lo glow."
LOL @ "J. Lo Glow"
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny how she forced that name on us and now she prefers to be called "Jennifer".
And I really like Pearl!
Jennifer Lopez is ridiculous. I've heard she's such a bitch in real life, just way too much of a diva. My teacher for hair styling in make-up school last year worked with Jennifer Lopez on the set of... something, can't remember... and she said she was so difficult to work with. It's no wonder she got banned from Smashbox Studios, lol.
ReplyDeletePearl is definitely my favourite out of the four, though Goldstone is also very nice (and already sold out at my counter!). :)
