After working six days in a row, I finally found the time to do my nails. I picked an oldie, but a goodie: Deborah Lippmann's Across The Universe. Never fails to make me happy. It's a dark blue jelly base with light blue and green hexagonal glitter and medium blue shimmer. It is in my Top 5 nail polish shades of all time. It's a pain in the ass to take off, and you need about four coats to get it opaque, but it is gorgeous, and it's one of the very few nail polishes that I will wear again and again. This shade is solely responsible for my obsession with glitter polishes now. If you like glitter, this is a must-have. If you don't like glitter, pick one up, and you'll change your mind.

  1. This and Bad Romance were my first Lippmanns and they're still my faves! I'd wear it much more often if it weren't for the painful removal part. And once you have them on, you can't stop staring at your nails!

  2. They were both my first Lippmanns, too! This is the one shade, though, that none of my friends (guys included!) can stop staring at. It's ridiculous. Like, I've had a guy friend actually say to me, "You should wear that blue-green sparkle one, it's looks cool." Ridiculous!

  3. This looks gorgeous! I usually avoid glitter nail polishes because of the pain of removing it but I might have to make an exception for this!

  4. Hi, Stacey! You should absolutely get this polish -- it even makes hands look better! It is a pain to take off, but I use Shiseido cotton pads (they absorb more) and Zoya's nail polish remover and it seems to do the trick. :)

  5. It's gorgeous! I have it but don't wear it often enough. I usually give up at 3 coats and never bother with a 4th coat so it's not completely opaque.

I hear you can remove glitter polish quickly if you wrap your fingers with pieces of foil, with the remover soaked cotton pad underneath. Leave it on for a few minutes. It's supposed to remove the stuff quicker and neater.

  6. Hey, Fieran! I usually do that remover method but without the foil (I'm too lazy to walk to the kitchen, LOL). The thing is you have to let the remover soak through all the layers of the polish, which is why glitters like this -- where you need three to four layers -- are such a pain in the ass. But, SO PRETTY!

  7. Put down a coat of dark blue polish and you won't need as many layers.

And haha @ the guys - I love how clueless they are and it's so cute when they say something halfway recognizable. :D

  8. Liz - agreed; my go-to used to be Chanel's Blue Satin, but it's now Julep's Michelle. :) I admit that the photo in the post is a coat of Michelle, and two coats of Across the Universe. :P
