This week's Survey Says... from Temptalia:
- First brand you used? I had tons and tons of Bonne Bell Lip Smackers when I was a kid... But in terms of make-up, Clinique. I had bought their Perfectly Real Compact Makeup at a Sephora in New York City when I was 16. I remember not liking it very much and then went to Holt Renfrew and was recommended the Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation (which got such a cult following at the time that all Holt Renfrew stores had wait lists!). Shortly thereafter, I bought my first mascara (Lancôme Hypnôse in Black), my first eyeliner pencil (Chanel Le Crayon Yeux in Brun), and my first lip gloss (Stila Lip Glaze in Grapefruit) in my senior year of high school. In terms of skincare... I think it was Clean & Clear! And then I used Proactiv, which got rid of my acne but left me with the most horribly dehydrated flaky skin. And that's when I started using Clinique. And realized it did nothing for my skin.
- Favourite brand now? For make-up, I'd have to say MAC, because they offer the most types of make-up and colours with an overall great quality, and at decent prices. I am, however, also a huge fan of NARS, Chanel, OCC, Inglot, and Illamasqua. Still, the make-up brand I use the most and buy the most is MAC, and has been for the last few years. In terms of skincare, I have been using a mix of Lancôme (for cleanser, Genifique, and moisturizers) and Estée Lauder (for serums) religiously for the last couple years.
- Least favourite brand? In terms of high-end brands, it's a tie between Clinique and Elizabeth Arden. In terms of drugstore brands... honestly, I don't use drugstore brands, so I'm not even sure what's good or bad anymore!
Hmm... I've always been a scavenger and never committed to a brand, but maybe MAC was my real first? It started with the Spice lipliner craze back in the mid/late 90s. Then we discovered B2M and suddenly everyone had 10 MAC lipsticks. lol
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad about Clinique. I'm just kind of neutral on their skin stuff. The only thing that was terrible was their face soap which burned my eyes like a m0f0. Never went near it again!
I feel like every Canadian girl has at least one MAC product. MAC's Studio Fix Powder Foundation was my first MAC product, and I still use it to this day! LOL, yes, Spice lip liner was the ultimate '90s makeup product! It's actually still really popular! That, and Twig lipstick. Oh, man. B2M is such a great program, but a lot of people try to take advantage of it or abuse it, or they complain that six containers is too many, or they complain that you can only get a free lipstick/eyeshadow/lipgloss (instead of foundation, concealers, etc.)... And I'm like, "They're TAKING YOUR GARBAGE and giving you a free product OF YOUR CHOICE. What other company will do that for you?!"
ReplyDeleteOMG, Clinique's toner like, BURNED MY FACE OFF. Apparently, it can strip car paint, but that might just be a rumour...
