MAC released a new collection today, called MAC, Naturally. It features 23 products in total, 18 of which are limited edition. There are two limited edition shades of Mineralize Skinfinish featured in this collection, and both of them are re-promoted shades from 2009's Brunette, Blonde, Redhead collection. MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish powders generally have frosted finishes, and are ideal for use as a highlighter or an all-over illumination product. Each Mineralize Skinfinish comes in regular black packaging, contains 9 grams of product, and retails for $33.50.

Blonde (swatch)

Blonde features four strips of colour: a light pinked champagne, a light-medium beige-rose, a medium soft rose pink, and a medium-dark muted mauve rose. When swirled together, it creates a soft light-medium rose-beige with a champagne sheen. The texture is soft and silky, with smooth and even application. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. This could work as a blush on fair to medium skintones, but more so as a highlighter on medium to dark skintones. The two lighter strips of colour are warmer in tone, whereas the two darker strips of colour are cooler in tone, so the overall shade is quite neutral and should work on both cool and warm undertones.

Redhead (swatch)

Redhead features four strips of colour: a light golden champagne, a light-medium champagne beige, a medium peachy champagne, and a medium-dark coral bronze. When swirled together, it creates a soft light-medium peachy-beige with a champagne sheen. The texture is soft and silky, with smooth and even application. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. This could work as a blush on fair to medium skintones (and even as a bronzer on fair to light skintones), but more so as a highlighter on medium to dark skintones. All four strips of colour lean warm in tone, so it will suit warmer undertones more than cool undertones.

I find that people either love or hate Mineralize Skinfinishes. Those who like shimmer or illuminating products will like these, whereas those who like more matte products won't. The only thing I don't like about Mineralize Skinfinishes is that they're very easy to over-do, and they leave an extremely metallic finish. However, when used with a lighter hand, it can create a gorgeous highlight on the cheekbones, and with these particular shades, a great illuminating blush. I like to layer these on top of darker or brighter matte blushes to give them a bit of shimmer and sheen, which can change your look entirely. Those with larger pores and fine lines or wrinkles may not like the look of these on their face because they tend to emphasize these features. So, if you like Mineralize Skinfinishes, these are worth checking out (especially if you missed them a few years ago) as both of them are exceptional in texture, pigmentation, and colour pay-off.
