Friday Five: Where to Go

This week's Friday Five:
  1. Where do you go for a great cup of coffee or tea? I know it's really cliché, but I love Starbucks for coffee. Whether it's a cup of their House Blend, an iced Double Shot, or a Cinnamon Dolce Latte, they always do a good cup of caffeinated deliciousness. And right now, they are offering their Salted Caramel Mocha again, which puts them even higher in my books. That having been said, I've also been really enjoying Second Cup's Cinnamon Swirl and Pumpkin Spice Lattes recently, and I do think they're better than most of Starbucks' lattes (they have more flavour). On that note, I'm not a huge tea drinker (especially when coffee is an option), but I do enjoy the Hot Mixed Fruit Tea and Iced Passion Fruit Green Tea at Go For Tea
  2. Where do you go for a great doughnut? I rarely eat doughnuts, but I cannot resist Tiny Tom's when it's available.
  3. Where do you go for a great sandwich? The fatty smoked meat sandwich at Schwartz's in Montreal is pretty much the best thing, ever.
  4. Where do you go for a great bowl of soup? I don't often go out for a bowl of soup (unless it's noodle soup), but I do enjoy the Manhattan clam chowder at Rodney's Oyster House.
  5. Where do you go for a great post-midnight snack? I love going to Go For Tea for the popcorn chicken or deep-fried squid, Markham Station for the all-day breakfast and grilled cheese sandwiches, Willie Stouts for spicy waffle fries and "Tailgaters" (a bag of Doritos with nachos fixings), Keung's Delight for wonton and beef brisket noodle soup, Pho 88 for coconut curry pho with rare beef, and Restaurant 59 for their #58 platter (chicken, beef skewers, and an egg on rice served with sweet soy sauce). When you're nocturnal, you eat after midnight a lot.

  1. Oh my goodness. Your post-midnight snack answers have me drooling. We have a huge Vietnamese population here in Honolulu, so you'd think there would be a lot of options for late-night pho, but I can think of only one and it's only okay. Thanks for doing this week's Friday 5! :)

    1. Haha, sorry! We don't have a HUGE Vietnamese population in Toronto, but we do have a ton of Chinese people and thusly a lot of Chinese-owned pho restaurants, lol.

Thank you for making Friday 5's! :)

  2. Oooh, we could do Rodneys by Bay as well the next time. It's around the corner from the Bay Street Mercatto we passed. I had the most DIVINE lobster risotto there once. It ranks pretty high on the greatest winter meals I ever had.

Yesterday you wrinkled your nose at me when I mentioned tea but David's Tea kind of has me hooked! So many fun flavours. Coffee still wins, of course. ;)

    1. Oooh, yes, please! Lobster risotto sounds AMAZING. I still wanna try Mercatto, though!!! Next meet-up, either Rodney's or Mercatto. :D

LOL, yeah, tea's fine, but if coffee's a choice, I always get coffee. Unless it's at a tea place, you know... I'm not gonna get the coffee at Go For Tea, and I won't get tea at Starbucks. :P
