This coming Thursday, MAC will release a new collection in collaboration with Marilyn Monroe. This launch features a total of 29 products — 12 of which are new and limited edition, 12 of which are permanent, and five of which are re-promotes. Marilyn Monroe sees the release of two shades of Powder Blush, one of which is new and limited edition and one of which is a re-promote. Each Powder Blush comes in a limited edition glossy black mirrored compact featuring a photograph of Marilyn Monroe from The Black Sitting, photographed by Milton Greene in 1956, as well as her signature and the MAC logo in red. It comes in matching cardstock packaging featuring the same design, as well as Marilyn Monroe's lip print and beauty mark on the inside flap of the box. Each Powder Blush contains 6 grams of product, and retails for $26.50.
Legendary and The Perfect Cheek
Legendary and The Perfect Cheek
Legendary is a light-medium soft pinked coral with a subtle golden shimmer-sheen in a Satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is less orange and much more frosted than Springsheen, and more pink than Melba.
The Perfect Cheek is a medium neutral rose pink in a Matte finish. It is a re-promoted shade from 2009's Make-up Art Cosmetics collection, and is limited edition. It has a soft, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is cooler than Blushbaby, and lighter than Mocha.
Both blushes have gorgeous textures — soft, smooth, and silky. Neither of the colours are very unique and there are tons of dupes out there, but they are both shades that are timeless and will go well with a variety of different looks because they look natural on the skin. Both shades are designed for fair to medium-dark skintones, however, so darker skintones will find these too ashy or chalky. Let's be honest, though, people will covet these whether or not the formula is good or not.
I went straight for the blush when I reached the MAC counter, lol. I like them both but neither felt like a must-have. I prefer The Perfect Cheek over Legendary, though - but I have Blushbaby (my first MAC blush :) ).
ReplyDeleteYeah, neither of them are must-haves, but they do look amazing on the skin. I love both, but I actually like Legendary a bit more, only 'cause it makes skin look healthy and almost glowing without actually having shimmer in it. :P Although The Perfect Cheek suits this time of year a bit more. But yeah, these will only be must-haves to those who are collect limited edition products.
