This coming Thursday, MAC will be releasing their first major summer colour collection, Alluring Aquatic, in stores. It is inspired by "mythological sirens of the deep" and 1940s "aquamusicals" (such as those featuring Esther Williams). The entire collection features a total of 32 products, of which 29 are new and limited edition, and three are permanent at all locations. Alluring Aquatic will see the launch of two new and limited edition shades of Extra Dimension Blush. It is described as "a liquid-powder blush with prismatic reflections... Impact ranges from sheer crystallized light to a highly polished metallic effect." They come in special edition metallic teal compacts with clear lids that are "elegantly accented with sheer water droplets," as well as matching secondary cardstock boxes. Each Extra Dimension Blush contains 6.5 grams of product, and retails for $32.50.
Sea Me, Hear Me and Seduced at Sea
Sea Me, Hear Me and Seduced at Sea
Sea Me, Hear Me is a medium-dark muted warm muted coral with soft golden micro-shimmer in a satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is less shimmery and more orange-toned than Sunbasque, less shimmery and less bronze than Peachtwist, less brown than Gingerly, and less reddened than Pinch Me.
Seduced at Sea is a medium muted warm golden peach with soft golden micro-shimmer in a satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more golden than Peaches, slightly lighter and more peach than Sunbasque, more peach than Margin, and darker and more bronzed than Style.
Oh man, I think that I must have Seduced at Sea. The two look quite similar in a way, but I feel like Seduced at Sea will have a prettier subtler effect on the cheeks than Sea Me, Hear Me. (Because I have enough of those SEE ME HEAR ME ROWR colours!)
Lol, as a blush fiend, I say there is no such thing as "enough of those SEE ME HEAR ME ROWR colours"! :P
They're both stunning, though. Depends if you're looking for more of a coral or a gilded peach. They can both be layered for very saturated, true-to-pan colour, or buffed out for a sheer glowy flush. That's the beauty of the Extra Dimension formula. :)
Haha, true. I ended up with Seduced at Sea anyway. Aside from that and Soul Serenade, I picked up the darker Pearlglide pencil. It's seriously tempting to go back to pick up a few more because this collection is insane.
Looool, this is a seriously tough decision. The blush fiend in me cannot choose just one. :P
Sea Me, Hear Me seems to be a little more unique... But if you're coral'ed out and are looking for a nice summery golden peach, go for Seduced at Sea. :)
And also, it is VERY hard to pass up on MAC's summer collections. I always find that their first summer launch is one of the most impressive of the entire year. And always in cute packaging to boot. :P
I was surprised when I swatted these in store that I actually liked Seduced at Sea more, even though it was REALLY subtle on my newly tanned skin - it just looked so pretty! I passed on everything but Soul Serenade in the end, and I'm mostly OK with that - sometimes reading reviews like I this I think ~I WANT!!!~ but I'm doing so well refining my collection that I forget the desire pretty quickly. But really, you ARE one of the worst enablers, Denise!! LOL
LOL, sorry. :P I do think this collection was incredibly well done, though, so if there was any MAC launch that was worth saving up for, it's this one!

DeleteLOL! RIGHT? I'm surprised you got the Pearlglide; it's a permanent shade! Granted, the packaging is amazing, so I understand the appeal. :P
DeleteGlad you got Seduced at Sea and Soul Serenade -- they sold out so freakin' fast!
Dangit. I'm always like yeaaah I can pass on the MAC stuff and then I come here and I'm like NOOOOOOO.
ReplyDeleteSee? The worst :P But I just want ONE. But which one? D:
You get SMHM and then we'll have a complete set between the two of us, lol.

DeleteThey're both sold out everywhere so moot point now, :P
DeleteAre they really? I know they're sold out online, but I know lots of stores around here that still have some in stock. Did you check in-store?
DeleteVery pretty shades!
ReplyDeleteAren't they? :)
