MAC released a new collection featuring the designs of Vera Neumann last Thursday, called MAC Vera. This collection features 19 products, 10 of which are new and limited edition, 8 of which are re-promotes (7 of which are going to be made permanent), and one of which is permanent. MAC Vera features a limited edition product called Pearlmatte Face Powder, and it comes in two new shades. Each Pearlmatte Face Powder feature three distinct blocks of colour, varying in finishes from semi-matte to frosted finishes, lines of silver overlay in between each block of colour, and Vera Neumann's name and signature ladybug design imprinted on the biggest block of colour. They can be used as blushes, highlighters, or all-over face illuminators, depending on how much product you use and which colours you decide to mix. Each Pearlmatte Face Powder comes in regular black packaging, contains 12 grams of product, and retails for $33.50.
Flower Fantasy
Flower Fantasy
Flower Fantasy features three blocks of colour: a browned coral with subtle gold shimmer-sheen, a light rose pink with a pearlized sheen, and a light peachy champagne in a frosted finish. When swirled together, it creates a light-medium peachy pink with gold shimmer-sheen. This is a new and limited edition shade. Overall, it has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. I found that the three shades separately don't seem quite as pigmented and have a semi-sheer to semi-opaque colour pay-off. But when swirled together, it actually has high pigmentation and an opaque colour pay-off. It is lighter than Pinch O' Peach, and lighter and more pink than Springsheen.
Sunday Afternoon
Sunday Afternoon
Sunday Afternoon features three blocks of colour: a semi-matte medium cool-toned cotton candy pink, a medium-dark cool-toned fuchsia with a pearlized sheen, and a pale pink in a frosted finish. When swirled together, it creates a light-medium shimmery cool-toned pink. It is more shimmery than Dame, and darker than Well Dressed.
These powders are a little more versatile than MAC's Beauty Powders or Mineralize Skinfinishes, since they're not nearly as metallic, and you have more options in the way you use the shades (the overall swirled shades that they create are more akin to blushes than highlighters). In fact, these are safe to use in the eye area, so you could also use these as eyeshadows — though keep in mind that the texture of the shades separately seem a bit drier/stiffer and less pigmented than using the shades swirled together. I wouldn't say they're must-haves, only because there are better blushes, highlighters, and eyeshadows out there, but if you're looking for a decent multi-tasking product, these are worth looking at. Plus, they're cute.
These are SO nice!!! I'm so into shimmer right now!
ReplyDeleteYou must get them! :) They're just so cute and pretty!
DeletePretty! Thank goodness that cute ladybug isn't more intricate, otherwise I might be sorely tempted. ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha, well, this particular ladybug design is an exact replicate of one of Vera Neumann's designs, so I guess they couldn't make it more intricate even if they wanted to! :) But they are super cute...
