MAC released a new collection yesterday called Fall Colour, featuring artist Cindy Sherman in three distinct looks on the promotional displays. Fall Colour is a very large collection with the release of 48 products, and is the third collection to launch in September (along with Posh Paradise and Styledriven). There are two shades of Nail Lacquer released with this launch: Coco Clay and Oyster Shell. Each nail polish comes in regular black packaging, contains 10 grams, and retails for $18.
Coco Clay and Oyster Shell
Coco Clay is a dark chocolate brown in a Cream finish. It's a thinner, more watery formula, so three coats are needed. It does, however, go on smoothly and evenly. It is similar to Essie's Hot Coco.Oyster Shell is a light greyed beige in a Cream finish. It's a thinner, more watery formula, so three coats are needed. It goes on a little streaky and uneven, so a bit of work is required to get it to look smooth and opaque. It is more grey than Quiet Time, and is slightly lighter than Essie's Playa del Platinum.
Both of these shades are really neutral; they'd go with pretty much any skintone. I'm surprised, given the more dramatic and brighter colours from the rest of the collection, that MAC would release such subdued colours in their nail polishes. They are very wearable colours, but they're also easily dupable, so you might want to look into a less expensive brand.
Hm, Oyster Shell is kind of pretty :)
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty and really wearable, but not entirely worth the money, in my opinion. There's just too many dupes out there for cheaper!
ReplyDeleteTrue, probably 1/3 the price from nice brands like China Glaze :)
ReplyDeleteThey look like great neutral shades for everyday wear. I think I have some Sally Hansen Complete Care that might qualify as dupes. But I always think less of MAC before I go to the counter, then end up walking away with more than expected. Going to check them out tomorrow. Thanks for the review!
