NYC — Autumn 2012: Savore

The girls and I somehow got back to the hotel at the same time after my little Sephora shopping spree, so we decided to grab some lunch in Soho since we wanted to do some more exploring (a.k.a. shopping) there. We didn't have a set place in mind, but ended up deciding on Savore because we were craving pizza and they had a nice patio.

Pollo Pizza: Tomato, mozzarella, pesto, and chicken

Okay, we only ordered the salad because we felt like we should eat something relatively healthy on this trip. It was fresh and crisp, but nothing to write home about. Just ridiculously overpriced for $12. Anyway, I chose the Focaccia, which doesn't look like much in the photo, but holy crap, is it phenomenal. It must be noted that I prefer pizza with little to no tomato sauce (I will eat pizzas with tomato sauce, of course, but if it's an option, I like my pizzas "white"), which is why I chose it in the first place. Huge pieces of perfectly salted prosciutto with fresh arugula and massive blobs of not one, but two types of cheese. A most harmonious combination; I was in heaven. And the crust was thin but crispy and not too burnt, very characteristic of real Italian pizza (as opposed to New York-style or Chicago-style, etc.).

The Pollo was decent, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I love pesto on pizza, but not when mixed with tomato sauce. And I'm not a huge fan of chicken on pizza, either. The girls seemed to like that one enough, though. Overall, a good experience, and the service was efficient and pleasant and attentive without being overbearing. And it's always a good time when it's a nice day and you're out on the patio. Would definitely recommend this place if you want authentic Italian pizza from a wood-burning oven in Soho, but I wouldn't go out of the way for it. You'll find better in Little Italy.

  1. Those look amazing!
We should make pizza one day. I think that it would be fun and you'd like it :)
(When are you free this month? Next Wednesday?)

Don't you just swoon over natural lighting??
    There's nothing like it.

    1. Yes, please! I am off next Wednesday, yes. :)

Oh, god, I know. That's why I tend to take most of my product photos in natural lighting. Don't know what I'm going to do in the winter when daylight ends at like, 4:30pm. :P

    4. Pfffftttt lunches. I snack throughout the day and then have dinner. No time for actual lunches (unless it's tea time)!

Depends what you want to bake!
I can make the dough ahead of time and we can make a couple pizzas for dinner at my place?
      Come around noon-1pm :)
