Having had mediocre pub nachos in Newark, I was craving real Mexican food when I got back to Toronto. So when making plans for Civic Holiday lunch with my friends, Minji and Daniel, I immediately suggested going to 3 Mariachis (a.k.a. my new favourite Mexican restaurant):

Guacamole served with house-made corn chips

Elote topped with queso, Mariachi sauce, and "secret" spices

Tiger shrimp tacos, sautéed with garlic Morita sauce, topped with coleslaw, pickled onion, and Mariachi aioli sauce

The guac was AMAZING — fresh, thick, flavourful, and served with chips that have the perfect thickness and crunch factor to hold up mounds of topping without breaking. (They're the same chips they use with their nachos, which is also ridiculously good.) Since Minji is obsessed with corn, we had to order the elote. They were absolutely delightful — the corn was crunchy and sweet, and the topping was creamy and zesty with just enough heat — though I do wish it was topped with Cotija cheese to give it more of a salty tang (and is, in my opinion, an essential component to elote). For my main, I got the tiger shrimp tacos, since I fell in love with it the last time I came here. The shrimp are huge and plump, and the coleslaw and pickled onion on top give it an amazing crunch and refreshing bite. As I said before: INCREÍBLE! EXCEPCIONAL! DELICIOSA!
